Within a dotted circle, a lion standing to left, holding a sword in its right hand; a rising sun behind; all surrounded by a wreath. Rev. Within a dotted circle, ‘al-sulṭān Muẓaffar al-Dīn Shāh Qājār’ (‘Sultan Muzaffar al-Din Shah Qajar’ in Persian); below, ‘1318’ (in Persian); in the margin, the couplet ‘har shir del ke doshman-e shah rā enān gereft / az āftāb-e hemmat-e mā in neshān gereft’ (‘Every lion-hearted person who took the rein of the King’s enemy, received this medal from the sun of our ambition’ in Persian).
